They achieved a merit award in The Pride of Place Environmental Competition 2010, run by Waterford City Council, in the ‘best small residential area’ category.

Judges were particularly impressed by the absence of litter, the addition of hanging baskets, communication methods employed by the association, and the overall appearance of the Greenfields estate.

John Power, Chairperson of the association, said: “It’s a tremendous achievement and pat on the back for all involved and a great motivator to continue such good work. This award is particularly significant considering our estate is still under construction.”
